A dish which is more common in central Kerala. Spicy beef masala is cooked with tapioca and flavoured with roasted coconut. If you are looking for some authentic Kerala dishes to experience the true flavours of Kerala, this is a good recipe.

  1. Since the photo given shows yellow color, you may need to explicitly mention to add turmeric powder while making the tapioca or in some other step of making. We enjoy reading your blog and we have tried out a couple of dishes from this blog.

    • Hi Sony,

Thank you! Happy to know that you enjoy reading and experimenting the recipes. The yellow colour comes from the beef masala and in that I’ve used turmeric powder, which is explained in the recipe as well :)

      Cheers

  2. Hi there, Thanks for the recipe. It looks great. Would like to try it out. Can you tell me what the best cut of beef would be to use for this and the other beef recipes you have? I am in the US and I can find different chunks of beef meat in the grocery stores here (Chuck, Round, Rump etc.). Can anyone tell me what the best cut is for these type of Kerala beef preparations please?

  8. Hi ammu

The tapioca should be well covered in water ie the water level should be 1/2 – 1 inch above the tapioca and for beef marination, half an hour is perfectly fine.
